Iowa Women's Music Festival Next Month

This year's annual Iowa Women's Music Festival is coming up. The schedule has been released. The festival is set for September 1 and 2.



Every year, Iowa hosts its Women's Music Festival. This event is held every year and honors female musicians. Several will be featured throughout what is a two day long event. This will be the 19th year for the event.

Festivities begin at noon on Saturday, September 1 according to prairievoices.net, and will be held in the Upper City Park in Iowa City. There is no entry fee until the evening performance and everyone is free to attend. You can even bring your pets.

During September 1, or "The Day in the Park," female bands will perform from noon until 5 p.m. Performers are both local and national. At 8 p.m., Chris Williamson, Ferron & Bitch will perform.

During the festival, there will be food, vendors and a kids area as well. You can bring chairs and blankets to sit in the park and enjoy the music, as it will be completely grass seating.

Festivities will resume the next day beginning at 1 p.m. There will be a film screening of a film created by the performers from the previous night and a fundraiser. Bitch and Ferron from the performance will be available after the screening.
