Man arrested for shaking a baby

An Iowa man was arrested Monday, April 15 after it was reported that he was shaking a baby in the middle of the street in Iowa City.

Police responded to a report early Monday that there was a man in the middle of Plum Street at a little after 3 a.m., and he was shaking a baby.

Upon response, police found 32-year-old Alexis Stephan Kuberski. He was on a sidewalk, and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, according to an article on kcrg.com.

According to investigation reports, Kuberski had gotten into a fight with the mother of his child. He then walked with the baby into the street without it restrained in its carrier, while intoxicated.

The infant's mother reported that Kuberski had grabbed her by the arm and dragged her down the hallway while she was holding their child. Police witnessed Kuberski yelling at the woman and attempting to remove the child from her grasp.

The infant did not suffer any injuries, but Kuberski was placed under arrest. He is accused of walking away with the child in its carrier and preventing the mother from restraining it, which endangered the child. Fortunately, the child did not receive any injuries from the incident.

He tried to take off the handcuffs when they were placed on him by police officers, and he resisted arrest as well.

Kuberski faces a list of charges including child endangerment, habitual alcohol violation, criminal mischief, harassment, and interference with official acts.

Kuberski has had several convictions for public intoxication within the last two years.
