Puppy thief accused of stealing cellphones

The woman facing charges for stealing two puppies from a pet store in Iowa City is facing additional charges, according to recent reports. She allegedly stole cellphones from another business in nearby Coralville.

Recent discoveries state that 45-year-old Diana R. Chance of Tiffin was arrested in February and has been in jail facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Chance was discovered on a security camera stealing two puppies at two different times from an Iowa City Petland, and was arrested after an investigation.

According to the owner of the store, the store video tapes on February 10 leaving the store with a dog. Tips stated that Chance had the stolen dog, a poodle. A chip implanted in the dog confirmed that it was at her home.

When police attempted to retrieve the poodle, a second stolen dog was found at the home as well. There were also stolen cellphones from U.S. Cellular discovered at the home in addition to the two dogs taken from Petland.

Investigations have released information stating that the phones were two $700 cellphones stolen from a U.S. Cellular store. The time of the theft from the store was not discovered.

Chance faces an additional charge of theft for the stolen cellphones.

She still remains in custody at the Johnson County Jail. Her bond has not been released as of yet. She will face trial for the Petland theft June 4, and will be pleading not guilty.
