At long last, the University of Iowa Student Government campaign season has begun, and we know who our candidates are. Each campaign looks to be running on their own unique messages, and we'll analyze each of them so that you can get an idea of who you should vote for.

The University of Iowa is seeking to give students more alternatives to drinking on Friday and Saturday nights with it's Late Night At Iowa Program, which has a total of $50,000 to give away to alcohol-free late night events.

Bomb Threat At Burge HallDec 18, 08 6pm

A bomb scare has left Burge residents locked out for at least two hours today after a suspicious looking package was found. According to our staff, members of the Johnson County Bomb Squad arrived not long after they were ordered out, and they were still on the scene until past 9:00.

Open Source, the idea that working collaboratively (especially on free software), is what the Open Source University Meetup at the University of Iowa is all about. "I personally believe that software is often made best when made by a group of like-minded people simply working together," said Ryan Kopf, President of the Open Source University Meetup.

Anyone living in the residence halls can get the message – the University does not want people sharing their files. In addition to articles published in the Daily Iowan designed to scare students away from file sharing, posters have recently appeared on the floors of residence halls campus wide.
