No Bus To Regina Catholic Education Center

After intense discussion where over 60 parents attended a school board meeting, the school board voted to cut busing to Regina Catholic Education Center out of the Iowa City School District budget, with talks of saving $260,000 annually.

If parents want to send their students to a private school, which likely has better facilities and a better 'everything' than the public options, then they can afford to find a way to get their kids to that school. Cramming costs onto public schools only hurts them even more, when our public school system is already in need of reform.

Good work for the school board making this tough decision. It's the hard choices like these that make it next to impossible to have a high-quality education system - someone has to lose something. What this equates to is nothing more than one less burden on our public school system added to it by private schools.
