Iowa City Farmer’s Market

Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp, Iowa City, IA
The Iowa City Farmer’s Market will be held this Wednesday evening along East Washington Street across from City Hall inside the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp. The Market features fresh organic produce & goods from local farmers and growers. The Iowa City Famer’s Market runs May through October, Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm – 7:00pm and Saturday mornings from 7:30am – Noon.
Riverside Theatre Gallery Reception

In honor of its 31st opening season, Riverside Theatre will be celebrating with a reception at Chait Galleries. Playwright Megan Gogery as well as Director Alexis Chamow (Feet First In The Water With A Baby In My Teeth – opens September 9th at Riverside Theatre) will be in attendance. Suggested donation is $10, they can be made at the box office prior, or at the event that evening. Please call the box office at (319) 338-7672 for more information.
FryFest
Friday, September 2nd
Coralville, IA
“A celebration of all that is Hawkeye.” The third annual FryFest will be a tribute to former Iowa Wrestling Coach and 1972 Olympic Gold Medalist, Dan Gable. The celebration will also be honoring the75th anniversary if the world-renowned Scottish Highlanders. FryFest includes the world’s largest Hawkeye Tradeshow (located inside the Coralville Marriot Convention Center) and as evening outdoor concert. This year preformers include Iowa native country band, 8 Seconds as well as country music star, Josh Turner. Gates open at 5:00pm, 8 Seconds take the stage at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in-person at the Coralville City Hall or at http://fryfest.com/outdoor-concert/concert-tickets/. The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) will be holding its back to school reception this Friday at the hotelVetro lobby in downtown Iowa City. Recent acquisitions will be on display along with videos on perception by former UI professor, Leighton Pierce. Raygun will also be on site selling exclusively designed apparel & accessories. Admission is $5.

The University of Iowa Hawkeyes will be taking on the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in the regular season opener this Saturday morning at Kinnick Stadium.
