Weekly Fire Drill At BurgeSep 15, 08 9pm

The habit of a weekly fire-drill is becoming a reality for students living in the Burge Residence Hall at the University of Iowa. Once again a fire alarm has gone off at burge, which would make the tally at least seven times since the beginning of this semester alone.

Power Problems At Burge Aggravate StudentsSep 3, 08 6pm

Apparently due to a malfunction in a steam line, the power went out in the 3rd and 4th houses of Burge residence hall today, along with the lobby, basement, and marketplace. This was complemented by the fire alarm going off at least 3 times over the course of the night, at 1am, 2am, and again at 4pm.

Fire at Burge Residence HallAug 25, 08 6pm

A little past 10:00pm (10:15 est) tonight a fire broke out in an area of Burge Residence Halls at the University of Iowa. The fire occurred near the fifth floor of Burge hall. Residents were let back in about an hour later at 11:10pm, and they were being advised to stay in their rooms except to use restrooms as necessary.

UI President's Block PartyAug 24, 08 4pm

The party exploded with people right as the 4 to 7 party started, with people strolling to the block looking for music, free food, and the chance to win some cool prizes. Things officially began when Sally Mason was introduced around 4:30, starting the President's Block Party.

ARH Presents Iron Man and Paperback RhinoAug 23, 08 5pm

A good crowd of about 70 or more people showed up Saturday night for the welcome week event put on by Associated Residence Halls at the University of Iowa, which opened with a comedy sketch by Paperback Rhino and included a showing of the recently released Iron Man movie.

Thousands Turn Out For AnimeAug 18, 08 2pm

Every August an anime convention is held in Eastern Iowa, just before school starts. For anime and video game fans, this is the perfect way to end an entire summer, and transition back into 'boring life'.

Traffic Delays on Highway 6Jul 22, 08 10am

An accident involving a car and a van happened earlier today on Highway 6. Traffic has been backed up for several blocks, making traffic a little slower and completely blocking one lane on parts of Highway 6.

J & M Displays has been doing the Iowa City Jaycee's fireworks show for over 20 years, and this year's show will be no exception. The 17K show is planned to last for 28 minutes this year, featuring everything that can be expected from a professional fireworks display.

Under the shade the temperature hovered around in the calm, cool 70s, with the occasional breeze wiping away any sweat from direct sunlight. The sun beat down hard, though, in the areas unprotected from it's brightness.
