The FACF sent a formal letter pledging to raise a total of $1 million over a period of five years for the Iowa City animal shelters starting in June 2013.
The goal is to raise over $200,000 per year and give it to the new Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, which will be set up in the future when the funds have become available enough to begin.
FACF, or Friends of the Animal Center Foundation as it is also known, is a non-profit organization in Iowa City that is dedicated to the creation and preservation of facilities that are built to help animals, such as the future animal shelter to be built in Iowa City.
The entire Iowa City community and other communities nearby the city will be needed in order to actually be able to do this. A tough campaign will be started in order to raise the money that is needed to get the process started. According to the website for FACF, you can donate already in a few ways.
The shelter is to be moved onto Napoleon Lane from its current location on Sand Road. When the plans are done, a more accurate assessment of the cost and the time it will take to build will be made, but guesses are being made for now.
This will only pay a portion of the cost to set up the animal shelter and get it running, which is believed to be at around $3 million or so and will take about three months to build and get running.
