Sex Offender Returns to Jail

20 year old Brice C. Widstrom, a convicted sex offender, has landed himself back in the Johnson County Jail after being released not even two weeks before that to the Hope House.

Less than two weeks ago, Widstrom was convicted as a sex offender after being found guilty of having sex with more than one underage girl during 2011. He was sentenced to lifetime probation, 5 years of conditional probation and one year in the Johnson County's Hope House after his arrest.

Both of the victims, 15-year old girls, reported the crimes committed by Widstrom to police late last year, and Widstrom's trial began for the crimes. He was found guilty of both of the crimes.

He was originally sentenced to time in prison, but this was revoked for the probation, conditional probation and the year served in the Hope House. His sentence was given on May 24.

After not even two weeks, Widstrom began to make suicidal threats at the Hope House and was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals Monday morning, according to kcrg.com.

There, he smashed his MP3 player and attempted to escape custody. Widstrom refused to be placed in handcuffs. He kicked one of the officer's trying to apprehend him and attempted to bite the other. The attempted escape was unsuccessful.

Widstrom is now back in the Johnson County Jail, facing a charge of assault on a police officer. It is unsure how this charge will affect his current sentence and if he will be placed in prison.
