I-80 Wreck Claims 1 Life

To the Midwest today, it sure seems like the end of the world is coming. I blizzard today nearly stopped the entire region in its tracks. Many were without power all day, and roads were shut down all over.

Wrecks were scattered across the ones that were still open, such as an over 25-vehicle wreck on Interstate 80 about 60 miles north of Des Moines today that claimed one life.

In addition to thousands of people being without power today, traveling has nearly been impossible for people trying to get to and from work or other places.

Driving was not an easy task anywhere in the Midwest with high winds and snow and ice covered roads. Many wrecked. Thankfully, the treacherous wrecks did not claim many lives.

Unfortunately, at least one life was claimed in a 25-vehicle wreck that happened this afternoon on I-80.

The conditions prevented people from being able to see that ahead of them, semis had crashed and made the road impassible. A total of more than 25 vehicles were caught up in the wreck, leaving at least one person dead.

The person's name has not been released as of yet, and no information about any other injuries or dead has been released.

Police are warning people all over to get off the roads and stay off them for the night, as the conditions don't seem to be improving at all. It will be even more difficult to see in the dark as people wreck on the roads, and safety will be even more difficult.
